This summer we celebrated the very special wedding of my sister and her partner, and I was honoured that they chose Fairbank to host their big day!
To be a guest at a wedding is always a joy… but to be a bridesmaid, host your sisters wedding, to spend the weekend celebrating and sharing your home (and job) with all your family and special friends was just incredible!
Fairbank was the most amazing venue… and to see it from the other side at this family wedding was brilliant! Massive thanks to my amazing team for running things smoothly without me!
Sarah and George had a 3 day celebration, having their church ceremony in Haworth, West Yorkshire where they live on the Friday. Followed by the reception on the Saturday at Fairbank and a casual lunch and walk to the tarn on the Sunday. The bridal party and close family enjoyed a meal from Karen Rhodes Catering in the accomodation at Fairbank on the Friday evening to begin the celebrations!

After a relaxed morning getting ready, Sarah and George headed to the tarn for some couples portraits while guests arrived. Following this they made their entrance onto the lawn on a motorbike – a first for Fairbank! It was a fitting tribute to George’s late father and a wonderful way to start the day.
There were lots of DIY touches to this wedding, the bride and groom made all their own stationary and signage, as well as home-made lawn games and dried flower table centers. Running a quarry and stone buisness George and Sarah even incorporated some stone into their day! This was in the form of table numbers and beautiful engraved stone coasters as wedding favours. Even the groom’s ring was crafted from their stone by Lakeland Rings.
Sarah and George chose a three course menu from Karen Rhodes Catering. They used their sample menus as a guide but also tweaked dishes to put their own stamp on it – the result was delicious!
Here’s to Us Band entertained guest’s all evening with two sets of floor fillers, from recent hits to old school classics. If we weren’t on the dancefloor we were in the photobooth, which was brilliant fun!
Karen Rhodes Catering fired up their pizza oven for an evening snack from their street food van, which went down a treat.
A beautiful sunset topped off what was a fab day of celebrations. It was such a joy to host a family wedding at Fairbank and we made memories to last a lifetime!
